4 Ways to Style a Black Jacket

One of the most essential pieces in my wardrobe is a black blazer. It is stylish, polished and versatile. As a former buyer who has worked for a number of retail companies, I know that the making jackets is more expensive than many other categories. The construction, fit and fabrics that going to making a jacket are more costly than many other clothing items. It is important to select a jacket of good quality because a jacket made of poor quality will show it. In this post, I selected a black velvet blazer from L’Agence and am showing multiple ways to wear it.

If you do not have a black blazer in your closet, think about investing in one. It is an item that you will wear for many years and can make it look different depending on how you style it. It is an excellent item to travel with because of the versatility. When selecting a black jacket, be sure to select a silhouette is flattering to your frame and made of a fabric you can mix and match with existing items in your closet.

sI shared this story in a post a couple of years ago…it always comes to mind when I start thinking about what I am going to wear to holiday parties. I once attended a Christmas party at a dear friends home…he looked around at all of the women and said “Why are NONE of you ladies wearing red? It’s a holiday party!” I think of that conversation every holiday season. What to Wear for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving comes only one time a year so I like to make it festive..in addition to the pretty decor, delicious recipes and time spent with loved ones, I like to always wear something a bit special. These three looks will give you some ideas on how to dress for Thanksgiving.

If your Thanksgiving celebration will be on the casual side, then try a pretty blouse like this draped option. Since it’s a bit flowy, it is perfect for eating a bit extra. It comes in a range of colors and I liked this pretty pumpkin shade. Size down as it runs a little large. Wear with your favorite pair of denim, layer some gold chains and you are set. Jumpsuits are one of my favorite things to wear while entertaining. They make me feel chic but are also practical. Chic Hair Accessories

Early in my career, I spent several years as an accessory buyer. Which is one of the most fun categories I have ever bought…I never tired of all of the bags, jewelry and bling. Accessories add so much interest and detail to your outfits…they are an easy way to update any outfit. Hair accessories have been a key trend for the last couple of seasons but I have been a little hesitant to incorporate it into my look. The styles I have seen this Fall are so gorgeous that I could not resist sharing a few of my favorites.

Scrunchies (especially the velvet ones) are a staple and are great because they don’t damage the hair as much as regular ponytail holders. There are endless options (some linked below) of pretty barrettes and even if you want a basic ponytail holder, there is an elegant brushed gold ring to cover it.

If you have been following me for any length of time, you know that florals are one of my favorite trends…which is why I am delighted they have been so prominent for the past few seasons. They always make me feel so pretty and feminine which is why I feature them season after season. This trend is a favorite of mine, simply because it is so easy to add into your existing wardrobe. It also works well with other fall trends like leopard prints or shades of rich red. Statement earrings are here and they are bigger than ever (literally and figuratively). They can dress up a pair of denim or be the finishing touch of drama with a cocktail dress.
