What to Wear for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving comes only one time a year so I like to make it festive..in addition to the pretty decor, delicious recipes and time spent with loved ones, I like to always wear something a bit special. These three looks will give you some ideas on how to dress for Thanksgiving.

If your Thanksgiving celebration will be on the casual side, then try a pretty blouse like this draped option. Since it’s a bit flowy, it is perfect for eating a bit extra. It comes in a range of colors and I liked this pretty pumpkin shade. Size down as it runs a little large. Wear with your favorite pair of denim, layer some gold chains and you are set. If your Thanksgiving is on the dressier side, then a feminine dress is an excellent option. This print features flowers in a gorgeous range of colors. Available at reiss.com.

Jumpsuits are one of my favorite things to wear while entertaining. They make me feel chic but are also practical. Unfortunately, this striped version is sold out but I have linked a few others below. Since the weather is warm all year in Miami, we can always wear them. If you live in a colder climate add a denim, leather or faux fur jacket on top of your jumpsuit to stay warm.

Chic Hair Accessories

Early in my career, I spent several years as an accessory buyer. Which is one of the most fun categories I have ever bought…I never tired of all of the bags, jewelry and bling. Accessories add so much interest and detail to your outfits…they are an easy way to update any outfit. Hair accessories have been a key trend for the last couple of seasons but I have been a little hesitant to incorporate it into my look. The styles I have seen this Fall are so gorgeous that I could not resist sharing a few of my favorites.

The turban. Such a chic piece…and a bonus? It keeps your head warm. Available in a gorgeous range of colors at nordstrom.com.

This printed headband adds a pretty pop to the most basic outfit and can be worn two different ways. Available at anthropologie.com.

Scrunchies (especially the velvet ones) are a staple and are great because they don’t damage the hair as much as regular ponytail holders. There are endless options (some linked below) of pretty barrettes and even if you want a basic ponytail holder, there is an elegant brushed gold ring to cover it.

While I think it is essential to have classic coats in your wardrobe that you will wear for many years…I could not resist featuring these gorgeous statement coats! The colors, silhouettes and textures are out of this world. As a former outerwear buyer, I like to invest in high-quality pieces that will last season after season.

This trend is a favorite of mine, simply because it is so easy to add into your existing wardrobe. It also works well with other fall trends like leopard prints or shades of rich red. Statement earrings are here and they are bigger than ever (literally and figuratively). They can dress up a pair of denim or be the finishing touch of drama with a cocktail dress. There is a wide range of options and prices range from economical to luxurious, which makes this trend easily accessible. Army Green Gets Girly

Army green is one of those perfect colors that transitions beautifully between summer and fall. The luxe hue looks gorgeous with your summer tan and pairs well with soft shades like white and pink and also looks lovely in fall with shades of brown and black. While this color is often found in edgier silhouettes, I have found some feminine pieces in this chic color that offer fresh style.

Soft Floral Prints

When I created Style & Life, I wanted to create a place that inspired beautiful moments. I find that when I incorporate lovely details throughout my day, I tend to feel happier. When it comes to clothing it is hard to select a favorite look or trend, but there is something special about floral prints. Wearing them makes me feel more feminine, elegant and graceful. While throwing on yoga pants and running out the door is the easiest way to run around on the weekend, I inevitably run into a former colleague or someone else I wish I wouldn’t have. So, unless I am truly working out, I try to look a touch more pulled together for weekend errands and going to the park.
