Amazing Lashes with One Two Lash

    s

I posted the incredible story about how one of my dear friends invented, yes, invented, the One Two Lash magnetic eyelashes last year shortly after I relaunched Style & Life. Since then, a number of people have reached out and asked me if these actually work. The short answer is-yes, they do! Below, I detail a step-by-step guide so you can see how simple they are to use.

When it comes to photography, I like to wear false eyelashes because they make my eyes stand out. So, I decided to show you the One Two Lash Bold Lash.  If it were a regular day, the Originals would be perfect…just enough to boost your look but subtle enough that people would not even realize you were wearing them.

The packaging of this product is positively gorgeous. The luxe black case keeps your lashes protected between wears and is small enough to fit in your purse or suitcase.

One Two Lash has two lashes that sandwich your natural eyelash. You simply apply them at your lash line and the magnet connects them.  I like to apply mascara before applying my lashes so I start with mascara application and ensure it is dry before I apply the lashes.

Step 1: Select the appropriate lashes.  I like to place the top lash at the base of my eyelash.

    s

Step 2:  Place the top lash at the base of your eyelash.

Step 3: Place the bottom lash under your lash. The magnet will connect them easily.

    s

Step 4: I sometimes adjust them a bit just to make sure I like the position and voila! Instant luxurious lashes.

I am excited to try the One Two Wash, an eye makeup remover that is safe for your lashes and removes your makeup seamlessly.

    Marble & Copper Home Accessories

    s

sSometimes my fashion obsessions carry over into my home decor selections…so being that white, blush and rose gold is quite possibly my favorite color combination, it is not surprising that I gravitate toward it in home decor.  I was hosting friends for an afternoon chat and created this chic little edit of marble and copper accessories.  These pieces are far more versatile than I realized…and somehow make the food and wine look extra pretty.

    sS

    MARBLE BUTTER BELL

This is a unique dish you often see in France so I was excited to find this pretty marble version…it is called a le beurrier. It is a dish used for keeping butter at room temperature so you can easily spread over delicious baguettes. You fill the crock with water and it keeps the butter soft and spreadable. You can keep it at room temperature for 3-5 days without refrigeration…just be sure to change the water so it stays fresh.  Available at www.williamssonoma.com.

    s

    sWINE COASTER

This stylish wine coaster is perfect for displaying a bottle of rosé for an afternoon of wine with friends. It complements the cheese board and knives beautifully.  Available at www.williamssonoma.com.

    s

    CHEESE KNIVES

This knife set coordinates perfectly with these pieces. The pronged knife breaks up hard cheeses, the tear shaped knife is for spreading soft cheeses and spreads and the plane is for shaving medium and hard cheeses.  Available at www.williamssonoma.com.

Style & Life: the elegant edit on fashion, beauty, food & drink, home and kindness

    s

    CHEESE BOARD

The pièce de résistance of this edit is the gorgeous cheese board.  This lovely piece is incredibly substantial and has a nice weight. It is perfect for serving delectable apps or a cheese and charcuterie platter. Available at www.westelm.com

sThe holidays are around the corner…these pieces would make a fabulous gift for family, friends…or yourself. 😉

    Fall Floral Prints

    s

After spring and summer seasons filled with feminine floral prints, I am excited to report floral prints continue this fall season in fresh color ways and styles. I love the soft, romantic vibe florals create…they make me feel so pretty while wearing them. However, to keep avoid looking overly sweet, wear with denim, leather, suede and faux fur. The texture will create a nice contrast. Here are some of my top selections for fall floral prints.

It works with white denim during the summer and dark denim and a leather jacket in the fall. The metallic beads and tassels add a lovely touch.  Available at www.intermixonline.com

    My Bathtime Ritual:

    A Moment of Self-Care

If you read my Healthy Mid Year Resolutions post, I discuss how I am refocusing my energies on my health and fitness goals.  In addition to nutritious meals, proper hydration and the right amount of exercise…stress management is another key element to health and wellness.  When you are stressed, you do not sleep well…which throws everything off…like getting up early to excercise, preparing a healthy lunch to bring to work…the chocolate craving at 3pm. Everything.

I realized that in order to be successful in achieving these goals, I have to carve out some moments where I am able to fully decompress. When I need to de-stress, one of my favorite things to do is to take a bath. It is a nice moment of zen where the challenges of the day seem to melt away. A nice cup of tea, some fun bath products, a book and some faacial masks sounds like the perfect end to a challenging day. Here are some of my favorite bath products. They can also make a nice gift.

    s

    Body Therapy Kit

From the Canadian brand Kocostar, this Body Therapy Kit contains four treatments that will hydrate, sooth and heal various concerns. A hair, nail, foot and split end therapy creates an evening full of pampering. Available at www.anthropologie.com.

    French Girl Organics: Sea Polish

If my skin needs some deep exfoliation, I use this French Girl Organics Sea Polish This sea polish is a blend of coco butter, sea salt and sugar and leaves skin glowing. Available at www.amazon.com.

    s

    Lush Bath Bombs

One of these days, I will actually take a bath filled with rose petals…just because pictures make it look so amazing.  In the meantime, the heart shaped bath bombs shown above are my choice. They smells of rose and jasmine and leave little rosebuds floating in the water.  Available at www.lushusa.com.

    s

    Soveral Midsummer Dew Body Oil

Soveral is an incredible skin care line and I use a number of their facial products. This Midsummer Dew Body Oil was the first body product I have tried and was enormously pleased with it. If you are looking for a luxurious and incredibly hydrating post-bath treatment for your body, this oil will not disappoint. Available at www.alexandrasoveral.com.

    s

    Senteurs D’Orient Rough Cut Soap

This soap bar contains raw oat and wheat to gently exfoliate the skin while shea butter and olive oil moisturizes. The almond scent smells delicious.  Available at www.netaporter.com.

    Healthy Mid Year Resolutions

I enjoy making New Year’s resolutions…there is something enjoyable thinking about the year ahead, the exciting things that will happen and the goals I would like to achieve. I recently reviewed the goals I set for this year and realized I have accomplished some of them but am WAY behind in others…the main one being to take care of myself, get back on a regular workout and a healthy eating program. All of those areas are inconsistent at best right now and I know that everything else will become easier when I carve out time for these.

    Fall Vintage Prints

    s

This fall, you will see gorgeous vintage prints as a trend…from high end designers to affordable fashion, these prints are present in most collections. They work well with denim, suede, leather fabrications.

Gesine from Mille Fleurs was kind enough to let my photographer, Eric Dunhill and I stop in and take some photographs amidst her lovely flowers. Mille Fleurs is a charming flower shop located in the 55th Street Station in Miami. I have received absolutely divine floral arrangements from Mille Fleurs and highly recommend Gesine for any occasion.

There are three pieces I believe are best suited for this vintage print trend and have featured a few of my favorites below.

Spinach, Mushroom & Gruyère Quiche Recipe

Truth be told, I am not much of a breakfast person.  Green tea is a must but, otherwise,  I like things that are quick and easy…a green smoothie or avocado toast will suffice. However, my husband LOVES breakfast and so I like to have easy breakfast recipes on hand for those lazy weekend mornings when we are lounging around and lingering over breakfast.

I prepared this recipe one weekend…he and my daughter ate two pieces each, so, needless to say, it was a hit.  I was happy because it was fairly simple to prepare.  I have since served it for guests a few times and each time it has been well received.  One key to its success is the Apilco Quiche Dish I purchased from Williams Sonoma.  Apilco is a French company that has specialized in dinnerware since 1906. This lovely piece is the perfect depth for quiche… the prepared pie crust fits perfectly, cooks and slices beautifully.

Style & Life: the elegant edit on fashion, beauty, food & drink, home and kindness

    Ingredients

    3 eggs, beaten

    1.5 cups milk

    1 tablespoon grapeseed oil

    1 medium onion, diced

    8 oz mushrooms, sliced

1 6 oz bag of baby spinach

6 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled

    1.5 cups Gruyère cheese

    1 tablespoon flour

    salt and pepper to taste

    s

    Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400° F. Bake the pie crust for 5-7 minutes until very lightly browned.  Remove from oven and reduce oven to 325°F.

While the crust is baking, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Saute the mushrooms and onions for about 5 minutes.  Add the spinach and saute until the spinach is wilted. If there is excess moisture in the pain, drain the vegetable mixture.

In a large bowl, stir together the eggs, milk, onion, bacon, spinach, mushrooms and salt. In a separate bowl, toss the cheese and flour together. Add the cheese mixture to the other ingredients and mix well.  Pour into the partially baked pie crust and bake 30-45 minutes. Check frequently, as bake time can vary widely depending on your oven. Let cool for about 20 minutes before serving.

  • Why Prime?

    Why Prime?

Style & Life: the elegant edit on fashion, beauty, food & drink, home and kindness

    s

    Why Prime?

If you read my recent post where I shared five tips from my makeup artist, I mention that priming the skin is one of the key tricks to elevating your makeup routine.  Prior to having my makeup lesson from Aradia Vive, I thought that primer was an unnecessary step and just another product that was being pushed on me.

Once I started using primer, I immediately noticed a difference in how my foundation looked on my skin and how long my makeup lasted. And so did others.  Once I started using primer, instead of looking completely washed out by the end of a long work day, my makeup was actually still on.

There are a wide variety of primers on the market…gel, cream and powder based. The most important thing is to find one that you like and works with your foundation. It will help smooth out problem areas, fill in wrinkles and even add another layer of SPF.  The ones featured are three different primers I use. Be sure to buff them into your face with a brush…I like the Sigma Kabuki F80 Brush, which is also the brush I use for applying my foundation.

    s

    Lightweight

If you are sensitive to how formulas feel on your face, then this Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer is an excellent option for you. This weightless, silky formula looks beautiful under all foundations and even tinted moisturizers. It corrects redness, fills in smooth lines and contains SPF 15 for added protection. Available at www.netaporter.com

    s

    Medium

I like to use this Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer when I am meeting friends for drinks or for date night with my husband. There is something very flattering with the natural finish it creates on the skin.  There are a variety of options in this primer-color correcting, radiance and a version that contains SPF.  Available at www.sephora.com.

    s

    Thicker
The POREfessional face primer from Benefit Cosmetics is a beauty cult classic. This primer is much thicker than the others and has a consistency that is more like a balm. While it may have a thicker feel, it is extremely effective…it definitely helps my makeup last all day.  As advertised, it truly minimizes pores and gives your skin a smooth appearance. It can also be applied on top of your make up (dabbed on in specific spots) if you need to further reduce pores.  I use this for long days at the office or when I am traveling so I can maintain my foundation as long as possible.  Available at www.ulta.com.

    s

    Eyeshadow Primer
I apply this NARS Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base while my face primer is drying. This keeps my eyeshadow looking as fresh at the end of the day as it does at the beginning. You only need to use a tiny amount for application…for reference, one of the tubes lasts me approximately six months.  Available at www.sephora.com.

    s

If you have not tried priming before, give it a try, your makeup will definitely look better!

    One Good Thing

Style & Life: the elegant edit on fashion, beauty, food & drink, home and kindness

    s

    One Good Thing

It has been AWHILE since I have written a kindness post. Primarily because I am working on an exciting initiative that I will be announcing in the next couple of months. In the interim, I do not want to lose sight that small kindnesses can make a huge impact.

Lately, life seems to be taking a toll…the daily grind…the juggling of roles…being a mom, wife, executive and entrepreneur sometimes leaves me feeling exhausted and uninspired. I love everything I am doing but sometimes the sum of it all is A LOT. That being said, I am acutely aware of how fortunate I am. When I go down the list, the amount of things for which I have to be grateful is endless…living in a free country, my facilities, amazing family, incredible career…the list goes on and on. I am blessed beyond my wildest dreams and I never want to lose sight of that. Keeping that in the forefront of my mind is a skill that I am working to master. Deep down, I know it, but there are days when I just don’t feel it.

I was particularly cranky one Sunday evening when flying to New York which made me annoyed with myself so I decided to try something to break the cycle. I challenged myself to think of one good thing about everyone I saw or came my way. I ended up having a blast passing out mental compliments to people …“great shoes!”, “that was so kind of you”…you get the idea. By the time, I got on the plane, I was in a fantastic mood. So, I have been doing this more recently. It has helped challenging work relationships and made me more empathetic to others that otherwise may have annoyed me. I will not lie. It is not always easy but I keep my goals small…just one thing. The great part is that I am so busy looking for small things to celebrate, it distracts me from thinking negative thoughts or getting frustrated over minor things.

It occurred to me that if we all looked for just one good good in each other, we would find more in common with each other than we may ever realize. And if the world has more love, harmony and kindness…well, I see no harm in that.

Spread the love, friends, and look for one good thing!

    Fresh Toothpaste Options

Confession…I am one of those weird people who enjoy going to the dentist. There is something about that clean feeling in your mouth that feels so good. In addition, I am a bit of a beauty product junkie, and always looking out for new products. I stumbled upon these toothpaste options and have been rotating through them ever since.  If you are bored with your basic dental routine, give one of these fresh toothpaste options a try!

    s

    Dr. Bronner’s All-One Toothpaste

This toothpaste blend is made from 70% organic ingredients. It is fluoride free, vegan and contains no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners. Available in peppermint, anise or cinnamon flavors and your breath is super fresh after using. Available at www.amazon.com

    Marvis Toothpaste

They market themselves as a contemporary toothpaste, and I have to agree. Attractive packaging and their unique blend of refreshing flavors like ginger, licorice, jasmine makes your dental routine anything but boring.  Also available in travel size. Available at www.anthropologie.com.

    Lebon Toothpaste

Created in 2014 in the South of France, it is impressive that Lebon has made a name for themselves so quickly. They have created an incredible product that is free of parabens, sulfites, colorings and a variety of other harmful ingredients. To boot, the packaging is positively gorgeous and, after brushing, your mouth feels delightful. Available in an variety of flavors at www.amazon.com.
